In June 1972, Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney established Atari. After five months, Atari’s debut product, Pong, revolutionized the gaming industry. Other arcade games were swiftly released by the company. Over a 15-year period, millions of game cartridges were sold when the Atari Video Computer System (VCS) was debuted in 1977.

Nolan Bushnell, the founder of Atari, sold the business to Warner Communications in 1976. After the 1983 video game collapse, Warner rebranded the firm Atari Corporation and sold the home computer and video game console divisions to Jack Tramiel, the former founder of Commodore. Warner kept Atari’s coin-operated game business, which was still known as Atari Games.
